RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN STERLING VIRGINIA HAS ISSUED A
RED FLAG WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EDT THIS
EVENING. THE FIRE WEATHER WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

A COLD FRONT IS MOVING THROUGH THE MID-ATLANTIC REGION THIS
MORNING. WESTERLY WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 15 TO 25 MPH AND
RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES WILL DECREASE TO 25 TO 30 PERCENT THIS
AFTERNOON. WITH THESE CONDITIONS OCCURRING OVER AN AREA WITH VERY
LOW FUEL MOISTURE, THIS WILL PRODUCE A FAVORABLE ENVIRONMENT FOR
THE SPREAD OF FIRES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A RED FLAG WARNING MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS
ARE EITHER OCCURRING NOW OR WILL SHORTLY. A COMBINATION OF STRONG
WINDS, LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY AND WARM TEMPERATURES WILL CREATE
EXPLOSIVE FIRE GROWTH POTENTIAL.
